Baby showers are lots of fun, and sometimes people meet up who haven’t seen each other fror quite some time –  so there’s always a lot of socializing and catching up going on.

Baby Showers on a Budget

It is so hard to choose the best theme!  there are so many!

My personal favourites are the little monkey and little devil ideas, but that’s my skewed sense of humour, and perhaps only suitable for boys anyway!

There’s ducks, there’s Winnie, there’s the princess theme for girls, there’s a host of fairytale and nursery ryme characters, and there’s tons of other stuff.

Host and expectant mother have spent time together working out the details of the baby shower, including the theme, and now it’s time to get busy putting all the details together so the end result is a memorable occasion. How extensive the decorating gets will depend greatly on the amount that has been budgeted for this task. It’s also going to depend on the number of guests that are expected to attend. Keep in mind that each additional guest will increase the overall cost of the baby shower, even if it’s just slightly.

Once upon a time, the question was  — should we invite the guys, or is this  girlie thing?

Baby Shower Planning Timeline

A baby shower is a time for celebration. To make sure the baby shower you host is one that guests talk about for a long time, in a positive way, do yourself a favor and follow this baby shower planning timeline.

If you’re planning to have a baby shower for the mother-to-be before her scheduled delivery, it’s best to select a shower date that’s at least 6 to 8 weeks before the baby is scheduled to arrive. What kind of baby shower invitations to choose - that’s a tough question.  There’s so many, all cute, that it’s hard to choose.

Should it be a Jungle Theme?  or Winnie the Pooh?  or something that little bit different?

A baby shower is a special occasion and as such, it’s proper to formally invite guests. A written invitation is almost always the appropriate method to use. The only times when a written invitation may not be best are when the baby shower will be a surprise or when the baby shower has been rather quickly arranged. In either case, personally inviting guests via a phone call is acceptable. E-mailed invitations, although quick and convenient, should be avoided.
